Completed in 1998, this traditional Mediterranean dammuso house, parts of which are original ancient ruins, is located on the Island of Pantelleria, Italy.

UP IN THE AIR

This wonderful treehouse, by German company Baumraum, flashes from the past came to mind. The company is dedicated to creating wonderful aerial dwellings among trees where one can play, work, relax, escape to or simply daydream. The King of the Frogs, as they named this particular one, hovers above a reflecting pond in a small private garden in Münster, Germany.

 La Co(o)rniche Hotel is an extraordinary location. Key landmark in the Pilat-Plage district in Pyla-Sur-Mer near Bordeaux, the vantage point over the Arcachon basin, backing onto the highest dune in Europe, it is suspended between sea and sky, nestling between sand and pines. This former 1930s hunting lodge in the heart of a preserved site, evokes the Golden Age and the invention of the Côte d’Argent.

A RENOVATED FARM HOUSE in PARMA,ITALY

This once rundown old farmhouse is now a beautiful family home. It is located just outside of Parma a region in Italy.Before the restoration started, the entire house with all the details was photographed for documentation as the family wanted to preserve the original atmospher.The entire building has been restored in collaboration with the architect Lucilla Scazzi. Together they tried to preserve the original structure and used the old materials as much as possible.


A PARISIAN DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

Interior designer Kein Cross transformed this 18th century courtyard house near Notre Dame.He called it ” a diamond in the rough.” With the help of a contractor, his design expertise and the use of black, white and gray, he was able to transform this  two-story tiny house into a gem. Of course, with lots of ingenuity and the clever use of mirrors, Cross made it look more spacious than it actually is.

CasasNaAreia, Portugal

The beautiful and unique cabins, designed by renowned architect Manuel Aires Mateus are close to the coastal town Praia and just one hour away from Lisbon.The cabins are reconstructed with traditional methods using wood and a traditional stem. Also the furniture and accessories used for the interiors are made from natural and rustic materials. The floors in the kitchen and living area are covered with sand,connecting them to the beach and landscape outside.

SUMMER VILLA in MYKONOS,GREECE

Simplicity may be the word of the day, but it is perhaps not the first thing that comes to mind when you step into Villa Orpheus. The minimalist and soothing design of this home was the work of South African interior designer Jayne Wunder, who took a charming traditional Mykonos house and revamped it into this modern monochromatic oasis. She really did a masterful job with the glorious mix of mid-century pieces and the island's typical style of decor.

A TINY BUT LOVELY HOUSE in URUGUAY

This house is located in the dunes of Cabo Polonio on the eastern coast of Uruguay. It is small, fitting only two people. The materials used for building are very simple, like those of all the houses in Cabo Polonio.Also the interior is simple with whitewashed walls and floors. The main color is white with accessories in earthy tones. True to the spirit of the inhabitants in the area, the house remains without electricity using lanterns and candles.

42 year-old Alexandre de Betak is a renowned events producer, art director and designer whose work includes fashion shows and extravaganzas for clients from Dior to Rodarte to Tiffany.
